Ellicottville Chalet Makes ‘Ski Country’ the Perfect Year-round Getaway
Ellicottville Chalet Makes ‘Ski Country’ the Perfect Year-round Getaway

In just a few shorts weeks, thousands of avid skiers, snowboarders and outdoor enthusiasts will make their annual pilgrimage to the quaint Village of Ellicottville in Western New York’s southern tier for some excitement on the slopes. And for those not interested in conquering the hills, the shopping, restaurants and nightlife aren’t too bad either!

But Ellicottville isn’t completely about the snow season. In fact, there are some fantastic sights and sites to be enjoyed year-round, especially during the cool and crisp autumn months. From incredibly colorful fall foliage to a variety of roadside stands selling produce, pumpkins and other seasonal favorites, Ellicottville is a treat 365 days a year!

Washington Street — the main drag through Ellicottville — is picturesque Americana, a combination of unique shops, relaxing restaurants and historic buildings. The tree-lined streets are filled with fall colors and other seasonal reminders courtesy of Mother Nature and some clever storekeepers and restauranteurs.

Our weekend began with a great meal Friday evening at one of the village’s newest eateries, Kabob Kafe, where the specialties include — you guessed it — a variety of tasty kabobs. Saturday’s schedule began early with a visit to the local merchants followed by a warming latte and lunch at Coffee Culture. Dinner at Dina’s Restaurant was a real treat, from the warm bread brought to our table to the perfectly cooked scallops!

While there are countless places to stay while visiting Ellicottville — from hotels and bed & breakfasts to fancy ski chalets that line the hills — we selected an incredible rental property just a short two-mile drive from the heart of the village. Known as Maplesway, this spacious, chalet-style house is set on a hill and surrounded by nature. It is available for a relaxing getaway or a seasonal rental.

And for those looking for a permanent Ellicottville getaway, this 1,740-square-foot home set upon five private acres is also available for purchase through HoliMont Realty ERA for the asking price of $269,500. More surrounding land is also available, offering up to 11 total acres.

Built in 1988, Maplesway features countless amenities and is more than comfortable for year-round living. The living room, for example, offers huge windows that provide an incredible panoramic view and a beautiful gas fireplace that quickly warms the entire house. The house is fronted by a wraparound porch complete with a fun and spacious hot tub!

Two bedrooms on the main floor and a master upstairs loft suite provide comfortable accommodations for up to eight guests. The home also features a stylish newly remodeled kitchen with modern appliances, two full baths, a small bar, full basement, three flat screen televisions, high-speed wireless Internet, cathedral ceilings, ceiling fans and more.

During the winter months, the long driveway can also be used as a slope for a safe and fun-filled sledding adventure with the entire family! A cup of hot chocolate or a glass of wine in front of the fireplace will quickly remove any chill that remains from outdoor activities.

Maplesway is located less than one hour from downtown Buffalo and the Peace Bridge and is a very short and easy drive to the Ellicottville business district, shops, restaurants, Seneca Allegany Casino and the slopes! Individuals interested in the possible purchase of Maplesway, conveniently located at 6871 Maples Road, can contact Realtor Tina Dillon at tdillon@ellicottville.com or (716) 474-5646 for information or to schedule a private viewing.

We capped off our fabulous Ellicottville experience with a delicious Pumpkin Spice Latte from Coffee Culture — perfect for sipping while enjoying a relaxing and scenic ride home.
