Williamsville, NY – Tops Friendly Markets, a leading full-service grocery retailer in upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania, announced today that the company will commemorate its 50th anniversary with a year-long celebration.  As part of the anniversary celebration, Tops will offer shoppers new promotions, exceptional savings, contests and events throughout the year.

 

Tops kicked off its 50th anniversary with a celebratory event at its Portage Road store in the City of Niagara Falls, NY.  Tops’ history is deeply rooted in the Niagara Falls community and the first modern Tops supermarket opened on Portage Road in 1962.

Assemblymember Gabryszak: Bill to Protect Against Fraudulent Financial Practices


Assemblymember Dennis Gabryszak (D-Cheektowaga) announced the
Assembly passed a bill he authored that would amend the Criminal
Procedure Law to assist a victim of false financial practice, helping
them remedy the fraudulent financial claim that the victim is indebted
or obligated to a defendant, or secured party, in a criminal action
(A.3457).

“When someone makes a false financial claim against you, it can cause
excessive and unfair damage to your credit rating,” Assemblymember
Gabryszak said. “We cannot allow victims of fraudulent financial
statements to go unprotected with nowhere to turn. By providing
victims with stronger options to help reverse or disprove wrongful
claims, we can help stop any unwarranted harm to the victim’s credit.”

Currently, when a victim has a false financing statement filed
against them, they can file a correction statement with the New York

She had seen the horrors of war and undergone therapy to deal with it.

But when doctors suggested Donna Li Puma enroll in the post-traumatic stress disorder program at the Batavia Veterans Affairs facility, she balked.

"Everyone said 'Go to this program. It will help you,' " the Buffalo native said. "I went unwillingly, and it was the best thing I have ever done for myself."

The Batavia facility is one of 10 nationally that treats and houses female veterans dealing with PTSD, and it soon will be new and improved. Ground was broken last month on a 9,000-square-foot building that will be handicapped-accessible and include 12 private bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.

Morgan Freeman the actor, film director, narrator and aviator who is most noted for his distinguishing voice was honored at the 69th Golden Globes award for his work in the film Industry with the Cecil B. Demille award. Since the 1950’s this award is given for outstanding contributions that made a huge impact to the world of entertainment. The winner is chosen each year by the HFPA boards of directors. At age 74 Morgan Freeman is one of Hollywood top A-list actors he received academy awards nominations for his performances in Street Smart, Driving Miss Daisy, The Shawshank Redemption and Invictus. He took home the award in 2005 for Million Dollar Baby. He also received Golden Globe and Screen actors Guild awards.

Assemblyman Dennis H. Gabryszak (D-Cheektowaga) will be holding two “Town Hall Meetings” in his district to discuss results of legislative survey distributed in early 2011. The questions dealt with issues that affect taxpayers and over 1,800 people responded. All taxpayers who work or reside in the 143rd District are invited to join.

  •  A special Thank You to Edward J. Malloy for your un-selfish service to our country during WWII. During the war he trained as a flight engineer/mechanic/pilot and tail-gunner on the B-25 Mitchell Bombers in the Mediterranean Theatre, 12th Air Force 57th Bomb Wing.  He flew an incredible 63 combat missions as attested to in the certificate below.  Received AIR MEDAL for his actions on a mission over Italy on July 12 1944.  Forever Proud of You, miss you very much.  Julia, Jerry, Janet, Judy & Bob
