I am proud to welcome a new member of our special fair club....the Ultimate Fairgoers!!!  Please meet our newest inductee....Mr. Tim Beasor!!!

It was just a stroke of luck that I was able to catch up with our new ultimate fairgoer.  I was in my area of Slade Park, and one of my fair pals, Helene Edie (Ultimate Fairgoer 2011) came over to ask if I knew who was at their table.  I glanced over and didn't recognize anyone, so I told her "no" and asked who it was!!!  She smiled and told me it was the newest Ultimate Fairgoer!!!  How great was that!  Here we are.....fairgoer 2005 and fairgoer 2011 being able to just hang out with fairgoer 2012!!  I asked if she might introduce me to him and maybe I could get some info about him for this blog.  I was sure that all of you would want to know all the facts!!!

So here goes.....I want you to meet Tim!!!

Cool Gel ’n Cap ‘A Blessing’ for Child with Dravet Syndrome

Cool Gel ’n Cap ‘A Blessing’ for Child with Dravet Syndrome

Cool Gel ’n Cap, the adorable plush hat developed in Elma, N.Y., that holds a cold or warm gel pack in place to soothe bumps, bruises, earaches and headaches, has found another unique use. And it has been an absolute blessing for one Ohio family.

Six-year-old Breanna Heck of Tiffin, Ohio, suffered her first seizure at just three months of age and was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome at the age of three. Dravet Syndrome, according to the Dravet Syndrome Foundation, is a rare and catastrophic form of intractable epilepsy that begins in infancy. Initial seizures are most often prolonged events and in the second year of life other seizure types begin to emerge. Development remains on track initially, with plateaus and a progressive decline typically beginning in the second year of life.

He Made the World's "Most Famous Hat"

He Made the World's "Most Famous Hat"

Local Genius Invented Many War Devices, But None So Thankfully Received by Doughboys as the Famous "Tin Kelly"

Buffalo Times April 4, 1926

It seems that there can't be much romance in hat making, ordinarily, and not if it's an ordinary kind of hat. John Leopold Brodie, No. 806 West Ferry Street, found romance in his creation however, romance and adventure in quantities to satisfy almost anyone. It was Mr. Brodie who invented the Tin Hat of war-time fame. To Mr. Brodie thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands allied soldiers owe their lives. Many of the doughboys with a streak of curiosity to peek over the top of a besieged trench, were saved from an army blanket and last post honors by the "tin" hat.

Mr. Brodies' hat was first chosen by the British Government, and later by the United States Government, as the most efficient life saving hat of more than 40 models offered them. Tests proved that the hat was so constructed that it was practically bullet proof, and the cushioning cage inside, resisted the shock. Under service conditions it was found that the hat cut down on head wounds by 60 percent.

SKM Group Donates $50,000 To Help Fight Cancer

Depew, N.Y. – SKM Group, a full-service marketing communications agency, announced today that it has donated $50,000 to cancer-related causes throughout the country.  The donation was a result of $25,000 the agency raised through various fundraising efforts and community events in 2011-12 and $25,000 SKM committed to match.

“I knew it was a pretty ambitious goal, but I continue to be impressed by the generosity of the community, our partners and our clients,” said Susan K. Meany, President.  “This was no exception. Our team dove into this with such enthusiasm and creativity, and it’s been so rewarding to see all of our hard work come to fruition.”

When SKM celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2011, Meany opted to skip the usual party or special event and honed the company’s resources on a cause she witnessed firsthand when an employee was undergoing cancer treatments.
