WEST SENECA, N.Y.-Canisius beat a rebuilding Lancaster team on Tuesday with a total team effort, 16-9. Lancaster battled early on, after giving up the first goal of the game the Redskins came back with two of their own in the first quarter. The Redskins played a close first half but the older and more experienced Canisuis squad was able to pull away in the second half.

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon and Urban Valet Dry Cleaners announce that the 4th annual Prom Dress Drive Shopping Days will be held Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14 at Performing Arts Dance Academy, located at 206 Lake St., Hamburg.

 

Girls are invited to come and shop for a free dress from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. A large selection of colors, sizes and styles will be displayed for girls to look through. Dressing rooms will be provided to allow shoppers to try on three (3) dresses at a time.

 

“The shopping days are a lot of fun and help families handle the cost associated with preparing for the prom or other formal event. This year we have a large collection, featuring some truly amazing gowns,” said Legislator Dixon. “All local girls are invited to come and shop through the selection during one of the two shopping days.”

 County Clerk’s Office will now offer monthly outreach
 

Erie County, NY- As a service to Erie County residents, County Clerk Chris Jacobs announced that his office will be offering additional “Passports on the Move” outreach events the second Tuesday of every month. The first event will be held on Tuesday, April 9th, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erie County Auto Bureau, located in the Northtown Plaza, 3095 Sheridan Drive in Amherst.

“The Clerk’s Office is pleased to make this service available in order to meet the growing demand for passports,” said County Clerk Jacobs. “I want to make County government more customer-centered, including offering convenient alternatives for our customers to obtain passports.”

April is National Donate Life Month and it is a good time to consider helping the growing list of people living on hope.   As you read this, over 10,000 New Yorkers are waiting for lifesaving organs, including over 500 right here in Western New York.   Thousands more are waiting for life enhancing tissue and eye donations, with 118 people added to the national organ transplant waiting list on a daily basis.

Buffalo Warriors Post 107-68 Victory in Season Opener

The Buffalo Warriors, an independent professional basketball team, opened their season Saturday afternoon with an impressive 107-68 victory over the Niagara Falls Trojans. The game was played on the Warrior’s home court in the Event Center at the Hamburg Fairgrounds.

Leading all scorers was the Warrior’s Javon Johnson with 19. Former St. Bonaventure star Zach Moore added 17, while Ivan Davis Jr. and Michael Kay chipped in 12 and 10, respectively. Jordan Street led the Niagara Falls squad with 18.

Deer Crashes Good Friday Service in Depew

DEPEW, N.Y. - There was a startling incident during a Good Friday service at Lord Of Life Lutheran Church.

The congregation gathered for what they thought was a typical night of prayer and reflection when a loud noise came from downstairs.

A deer had crashed through the window at the church.

Some members of the church tried to get the deer out safely, but it crashed through another window. No one, aside from the deer, was hurt.
