BUFFALO, NY-- 19-year-old Andrea Billittier was suffering from debilitating headaches that were growing increasingly painful and more frequent. An MRI revealed she had a life threatening condition that would require a delicate operation.

Another interesting twist is that Andrea's father is one of Western New York's most recognizable physicians, who learned a powerful lesson about what it's like to be on the other side of the stethoscope.

On Tuesday, February 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar in Lancaster, NY will join forces with members of the Lancaster Fire Department to put out meals, not fires. The event is part of Applebee’s “Tip-A-Firefighter” fundraiser and will help the firemen and women raise key funds to support the Lancaster Fire Department Explorer Program. The Explorer program is an initiative for youth ages 14 to 18 and teaches the importance of fire safety and prevention.

North Forest Office Space Begins Work on Central Texas Project

First building expected to be ready for occupancy in early summer

Williamsville-based North Forest Office Space has taken another step toward bringing its vision to Central Texas.

The company has commenced development of its first Texas project, located in the City of Pflugerville, northeast of the capital city of Austin. According to Brendan Jordan, North Forest’s area manager in Central Texas, the project, which will ultimately feature 34,000 square feet of professional, medical and dental space, is being developed in four phases. Construction is underway of the initial phase of 9,000 square feet of space, which Jordan expects to be ready for occupancy by early summer.

Jordan said that North Forest is excited about the opportunities it sees in Central Texas, particularly as it relates to filling a need the small-to-medium sized professional, medical and dental business segments in which the company specializes.

Enjoy The Journey to Host New Exhibit, Events and Photo Contest in March

Several special events, including an amateur photography contest, are planned during the month of March at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery, located at 1168 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca.

The event-filled month kicks off with an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 9, for a new exhibit highlighting the work of gallery members in mixed media, photography, oils, acrylics, jewelry, fiber, clay, digital fine art, glass and more. A young woman with ties to Western New York is running for congress in Arizona.

We're talking about 28-year old Nomiki Konst. You may recognize the name. She's the daughter of former Erie County Legislator Kathy Konst.

She will announce tomorrow that she is running for Gabrielle Giffords' seat in congress.
