Lancaster School District Installing New Security System | News
LANCASTER, N.Y. -- A local school district is preparing to install a new security system in its schools.
The Lancaster School District will be adding two new layers of security for students. However, these new measures have been in the works since last year; well before the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut.
The school district, which traditionally works with police to update security, already numbers the windows on their schools to help first-responders get to the scene of an accident or emergency faster. They also notify students with signs indicating their cars may be searched.
Come next year, the district will number all of the doors on the schools, and install a system that will alert the office as soon as any door is opened.
The district also will install card swipe systems at the front doors, where everyone must enter.
