Art Event, Music to be Featured at Dog Ears Bookstore & Café

 

An art show featuring the work of local artist Fred Fielding will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at Dog Ears Bookstore & Café, 688 Abbott Road, Buffalo. The public is invited to attend the event, which will also feature music by HEARsay, featuring Dave Kane and Michael Miskuly.

Fielding, a practicing dentist with Southtowns Dental and a self-taught artist from a family of artists, has been awarded signature status with the Pastel Artists of Canada. To view examples of his work, please visit www.fredfieldingfineart.com.

Winter Market on Hertel Continues on January 31

 

The new Winter Market on Hertel, housed in The Pasta Peddler/Blackbird Sweets location at 1547 Hertel Ave. in Buffalo, continues from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31. The market will run every Saturday through early April.

In addition to The Pasta Peddler and Blackbird Sweets, vendors taking part in the market on a full 20-week schedule include Alpine Made/First Light Farm & Creamery, Biscotti for Everybotti, Plato Dale Farm, Prudom Farms, Public Espresso & Coffee/BreadHive Worker Cooperative Bakery and White Cow Dairy! Participating on a 10-week rotating schedule are JJ’s Jams, Sandy’s Dandies, Chateau Buffalo, Fetch! Dog Treats and T-Meadow Farm.

Sports Collectors Expo to Feature 17 Well-known Athletes

 

Seventeen stars from the NFL, NHL and Major League Baseball are scheduled to appear from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Sports Collectors Expo. The event is set to take place at Batavia Downs Gaming, located at 8315 Park Road, Batavia.

NFL greats scheduled to appear include former Buffalo Bills Marv Levy, Billy Shaw, Vince Ferragamo and Ken Jones. Other NFL greats including Don Maynard, Larry Brown, George Rogers, Jack Youngblood, Tom Mack and Rocky Bleier are also on the schedule. Levy, Shaw, Maynard, Youngblood and Mack are all members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Mary Queen of Angels School Plans Annual Basket Auction

 

Mary Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School will host its annual basket auction event on Friday, March 13, in the former Infant of Prague School, 921 Cleveland Drive, Cheektowaga. Doors will open at 5 p.m., with the auction beginning at 7 p.m. A $5 donation includes admission and your first sheet of auction tickets. More than 200 baskets, gift certificates and other prizes will be given away during the event!

Mary Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School, providing a quality education for students in Pre-K, UPK, Kindergarten and Grades 1 through 8, will hold an open house from 9 to 11 a.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, at the school, located at 170 Rosewood Terrace (off George Urban Boulevard), Cheektowaga. Families interested in seeing the school while classes are in session are encouraged to visit during the morning open house.

Dog Ears Bookstore to Offer New ‘Puppy Tales’ Series

 

Dog Ears Bookstore, a nonprofit neighborhood bookstore located at 688 Abbott Road in South Buffalo, will begin a new series of “Puppy Tales” story time sessions on Friday, Jan. 9.

Open to children ages 2 to 4, Puppy Tales runs from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Fridays for six weeks. Each session includes stories, a craft and snacks. Children must be accompanied by an adult. There is a registration fee of $20, and room for 20 children in the program.
