Comicon to Invade Ontario’s Forest City

 

Uniquely billed as “a celebration of nerd culture like no other,” Forest City Comicon is beaming into nearby London, Ontario this October! The event will feature costumes, vendors, panels, board games, video game tournaments and lots of sci-fi fun!

Comicon will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, in London’s 14,000-square-foot Centennial Hall, located at 550 Wellington St. Admission is $15.

A three-day Harvest Festival featuring a wide variety of family friendly events and activities will be held at Annunciation Church, 7580 Clinton St., Elma, Oct. 3-5.

A free Family Movie Night under a tent will kick things off at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3.

“Easy to Remember: Great American Songbook Transformed Into Jazz,” featuring the music of Jerome Kern, Rogers and Hammerstein, and others, will be offered from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Annunciation Church, 7580 Clinton St., Elma. Performers will include local musicians Krista Seddon on piano, John “Bud” Fadale on bass, and Dave Schiavone on saxophone and flute.

Exhibit, Classes and Contest Planned at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery

 

“Delirium,” with local artist Marleta Stansberry, is the next exhibit that will be featured at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery, located at 1168 Orchard Park Road in West Seneca. After an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, the exhibit will remain on display for one month. The reception is free and open to the public; come and meet the artist! Musician/singer Dana Eric Misenheimer will provide entertainment during the event.

Several art classes are also scheduled at the gallery in the upcoming weeks. Kicking things off will be a watercolor class from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the following Fridays: Sept.19 and 26, and Oct. 10 and 17. The cost is $80.

If you hear a buzz coming from nearby Ontario, it might just be coming from the annual Honey Harvest Festival taking place Sept. 6-27 at Clovermead Adventure Farm in Aylmer, Ontario.

Each Saturday in September, guests are invited to come and see how honey is harvested from the hive, dip a beeswax candle, safely see a live bee hive opened and much more, including the popular bee beard demonstration! And, don’t forget the wagon rides, bee barrel train rides, honey tasting, jumping pillow, pedal go carts, animals and buckets of fresh family fun on the Adventure Farm!

West Seneca’s Outdoor Marketplace to Conclude with Customer Appreciation Day

 

West Seneca’s Main Street Marketplace, sponsored by the Western New York Federal Credit Union, will conclude its first season from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, with a special Customer Appreciation Day! 

Several vendors at the market will offer special discounts on Sept. 4, the final day of the 16-week outdoor market. Customer Appreciation Day will also feature two musical groups, including the Slide Tribe from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and P.J. King from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The Reserve Hose Ladies Auxiliary is the featured community group, and Pet Connection Programs Inc. will return with their popular pet totes and puppies!
