On Saturday, March 17, Pet Connection volunteers will be at the MotherTime Marketplace from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Grange Building on the Erie County Fairgrounds. Be sure to purchase a ticket for the shelter’s big St. Patrick’s Day drawing featuring 21 prizes, including a grand prize of a 50-inch plasma television!

Students Get Creative to Promote Mary Queen of Angels Open House

Students Get Creative to Promote Mary Queen of Angels Open House

Students, teachers and faculty members at Mary Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School in Cheektowaga were looking for a creative way to draw attention to their annual open house taking place on Tuesday, March 6. Little did they know that the answer was right at their fingertips!

School staffers ordered 50 blank real estate-style signs that have now been turned into mini-masterpieces and are scattered throughout neighborhoods in Cheektowaga, Buffalo, West Seneca and beyond. Created by individuals, groups and families, these signs all have one common element: promoting the school’s open house event that takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. March 6. The school is located at 170 Rosewood Terrace, Cheektowaga, near the intersection of Harlem Road and George Urban Boulevard.

Valentines for Veterans Program Generates Thousands of Cards

Valentines for Veterans Program Generates Thousands of Cards

Hundreds of handmade Valentine’s Day cards will be delivered to members of the American Legion Post No. 735 thanks to local students’ hard work. Legislator Joseph C. Lorigo thanks the schools that participated in the Valentines for Veterans program and was pleased to report that many heartfelt cards were made.

“Valentines for Veterans is a program that shows our veterans how grateful we are to them for their service by giving them Valentines from area students. The students were very excited to participate and many shared stories with me about family members who have served or are serving in the armed forces. At this young age they already understand the sacrifice made by our servicemen and women,” Legislator Lorigo said. “I want to thank the schools for participating in this program and making tremendous cards for local veterans.”

The following schools from Legislator Lorigo’s District participated:
