Expect to Find Advice and to Help Others at WNY Pregnancy & Baby Expo | Events
An area business is sponsoring an event that will bring together expectant parents to find information on the latest products and services and to gather advice on getting through pregnancy and raising an infant.
The WNY Pregnancy & Baby Expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at the Masonic Center, 2379 Union Road, Cheektowaga. Admission will be free, and the first 200 families will receive a gift bag filled with coupons, samples and more.
Exhibitors will showcase offerings in the following areas:
- Breast pumps
- Doula services
- Maternity clothing and accessories
- Pre-natal and post-natal care
- Parenting agencies
- Keepsake products
- Maternity, newborn and child photographers
- Massage therapists
- Cloth diapering services
- Children’s accessories
- Parenting support groups
- Ultrasound diagnostic services
- And more.
“The expo is a great way to showcase useful products and services to expectant parents, and they’re services found right here in Western New York,” said Polly Thoman, owner of Baby’s Sweet Beginnings, the breastfeeding and maternity boutique in Lancaster that is sponsoring the event. “There will be doulas, photographers, cloth diaper services and so much more.”
Also during the expo, a Chinese auction will be held to benefit the Western New York Perinatal Bereavement Network, which assists parents who lose children through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth and early infant death.
Thoman said this year’s event is near and dear to her heart with all proceeds going to the bereavement group, which helped her to cope with the feelings she experienced after a miscarriage.
“Having lost a baby many years ago, it just kinda hits home,” she said. “Thanks to the network, I am finally able to talk about my angel baby. When I was finally able to talk to someone who understood, I could hold my head up high and say, ‘I have four children, one has passed and three are here with me.’”
Thoman encourages expo attendees to bring the little ones with them, as baby-changing stations and plenty of room for strollers will be available.
