Take a Bite Out of Buffalo — and East Aurora — with Buffalo Bites Food Tours

Buffalo Bites Food Tours, offering combined culinary and historic tours of Buffalo’s Elmwood Village and the Village of East Aurora, has officially opened for the 2015 season. Entering just its fourth year, Buffalo Bites is already ranked among the top 10 things to do in Buffalo by TripAdvisor.

Buffalo Bites Food Tours have become a hit with both locals and tourists, according to founder Laura Reed, who invites everyone from near and far to “Take a bite out of Buffalo in 2015, sample some of the best and most unique tastes Western New York has to offer, and see the area from a unique historic perspective.”

“A food tour is a great way for both individuals and groups to spend a day,” added Reed. “We especially enjoy leading tours for larger groups such as family reunions, wedding parties, team building and corporate events.” Tours of Elmwood Village can be scheduled Thursday though Sunday now through December, while East Aurora tours are offered on Fridays and Saturdays. Tours last approximately three hours with stops and sampling at several food-related businesses.

Since opening her business in 2012, Reed has also noticed a change in why guests on her tours are coming to Western New York. While many still come to the area to visit friends and relatives, she is seeing more and more visitors just coming here to explore the region and tour a former ‘Rust Belt’ region now on the rise.

“When we ask the question ‘What brings you to Buffalo?’ we almost expect to hear that they are visiting grandma or another relative,” said Reed. “But increasingly, they tell us they are coming here for a vacation getaway. Everyone has their own unique story, just like Elmwood Village, the Village of East Aurora and all the stops along our tours.

“The best part of a tour is when we hear visitors say, ‘Wow, I never knew Buffalo was like this’ or ‘I've been coming to Buffalo all my life but have only gone to the Walden Galleria or the outlet mall and I am so impressed!”
