Ring in Valentine’s Day at Faith United Methodist Church

If you enjoy love songs and valentines, you will want to attend the annual Valentine Luncheon at Faith United Methodist Church, 5505 Broadway, Lancaster.

The event will begin with a silent auction at noon Saturday, Feb. 11, and feature a performance by the Ringmasters Hand Bell Choir after lunch.  The choir, led by Gloria Werblow, is known for its variety of techniques and includes several musicians from the Buffalo area.

Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the United Methodist Women’s local missions, which include Church Women United, Central Café, Beechwood Continuing Care and Gateway Longview.

The Valentine’s Day Luncheon is a long-standing tradition in the Lancaster community.

That unwanted present you received last month could be the gift that keeps on giving for several area children.

The Lancaster Family YMCA will hold its fourth annual Re-gifting Auction from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Elk’s Lodge, 33 Legion Parkway, Lancaster.

YMCA representatives are collecting not only donations of unwanted gifts, but anything that residents and businesses may want to offer. The items will form baskets that will be raffled off, and special large items also will be available for bidding.

Tickets for the event are $10 presale and $15 at the door, and the price includes finger foods, one drink and one door prize entry to win tickets to the Sabres vs. Canadiens game March 12.

The bands Triple Threat and Island Doom each will play one and a half hour sets, and a magician will perform between bands and travel around the room performing magic and making balloon animals.

Assemblymember Gabryszak Commends Governor Cuomo on Executive Budget Proposal

Assemblymember Dennis Gabryszak (D-Cheektowaga) announced his support of
Governor Cuomo’s recently issued Executive Budget proposal, which earmarks funds for a
number of Western New York-based programs.

The proposal contains the initial phases of a $1 billion economic development package
known as the Buffalo Regional Innovation Cluster. He has challenged Western New York’s
Regional Council to develop a plan that will create thousands of jobs and stimulate at least $5
billion in investment and economic activity.

“The governor’s proposed budget includes funding that Western New York desperately
needs and I will fight to ensure that these initiatives are present in the final budget,” said
Gabryszak. “These programs will create jobs, jumpstart our economy and put local families on
the path to fiscal stability.”
