Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition to Sponsor TeenSpeak Dance

The Lancaster-Depew Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition will sponsor its TeenSpeak Dance from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 30, at the Depew Boys and Girls Club, 60 Preston St.

The event, which is geared toward those in grades six to nine, will feature pizza, music by Sensational Sounds and dessert stations operated by the students in the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism at Lancaster High School. Prizes also will be awarded throughout the night.

The dance is being held as part of the Lancaster Youth Bureau’s Family Asset Building Month.

United Way to Honor Community Leaders at Annual Meeting

March 30 event celebrates individuals, companies for ‘Living United’

Several individuals and organizations from throughout Niagara County will receive some much deserved recognition for their selflessness, generosity and commitment to the United Way mission at an upcoming celebration.

United Way of Greater Niagara will host its Annual Meeting on Friday, March 30 at Antonio’s Banquet & Conference Center, 7708 Niagara Falls Boulevard, Niagara Falls. The event begins at 8 a.m. and will feature the distribution of a number of awards to honorees who have supported the United Way over the past year.

Mount St. Mary Academy Hosts Beatles Spectacular Concert

The Mount St. Mary Academy band and dance team will have the unique opportunity to perform with Mr. Mustard Beatles Band on Saturday, March 31, 2012. Also on the program will be the Western New York All Catholic Honor Band.

Each group will be performing with the Mr. Mustard Beatles Band from Rochester New York music of the Beatles. Such favorites as She Loves You, Help , Get Back, Lady Madonna, Yesterday, Got to get You into my Life, the legendary Hey Jude and many more selections. The entire evening will feature music of the Beatles.  Mr. Mustard Band will also be performing separately in the show. 

This is the first time in Western New York where elementary students and high schools are all performing with a pro band of this caliber.  There will be over two hundred students performing that night.

Lancaster Firefighters Ditch Ladders, Grab Serving Trays

On Tuesday, February 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar in Lancaster, NY will join forces with members of the Lancaster Fire Department to put out meals, not fires. The event is part of Applebee’s “Tip-A-Firefighter” fundraiser and will help the firemen and women raise key funds to support the Lancaster Fire Department Explorer Program. The Explorer program is an initiative for youth ages 14 to 18 and teaches the importance of fire safety and prevention.
