Woman Collecting for Care Packages for Homeless

A local woman is collecting items for the homeless to honor her nephew who passed away last spring.

Melissa Frawley created the event Care Packages for Buffalo’s Homeless and will collect items until April 17, which marks the first anniversary of the death of her nephew, Daniel Frawley, 27, a Tonawanda native who was helping the homeless in Kansas at the time of his death.

“I am on a mission to carry on his mission to help others and to preserve his memory,” Melissa Frawley said.

Men’s care packages can be sponsored for $5.58, while women’s can be sponsored for $6.70. To fill out packages, donations also are welcome, including bottled water, toothpaste, deodorant, cereal, raisins, granola bars, wet wipes and men’s and women’s socks.

Donations will be delivered to the Code Blue Relief Mission, Harbor House Drop-in Center and VA Healthcare for Homeless Program.
