Bauth Brings Home the Gold

AMHERST, N.Y.-It was quite a first trip to Europe for 14 year old Jordan Bauth. She won an Olympic Gold MEdal in the Team Figure Skating Event at the first ever 2012 Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Austria.

Bauth represents the Amherst Skating Club. Two On Your Side's Stu Boyar caught up with her Monday afternoon at the Northtown Center in Amherst. She described her trip to Europe and winning the gold medal as "the most awesome thing I've experienced in my life."

Jordan described for Stu what it was like when she was announced as the Gold Medal Winner. "I didn't believe it was happening like it was so cool and I didn't think I would ever hear that or just saying United States like representing USA. I'm really proud to be from the United States and be able to represent my country doing something I love."

St. Mary's 73-Timon 71

BUFFALO, N.Y.-St. Mary's beat Timon on the Tigers home floor Tuesday night 73-71.

The game was a thriller as both teams hit shots in the final ten seconds of the first half. When the teams went to the locker room at the half the game was tied at 33.

St. Mary's had a nine point lead with two minutes remaining but the Tigers were able to close the gap but couldn't overcome the Lancers lead.

The game's high scorer was Timon's # 2 Kyle Kobis who finished with 25 points. For St. Mary's the top scorer was # 23 Devon Redden who had 21. Two others scored in double figures for St. Mary's, # 1 Erik Simmons had 14 and # 21 Nate Meyers had 10.

Lancers head coach Dan Gill told Two On Your Side's Stu Boyar "it was a great atmosphere. Anytime you walk into their building you're going to have to be at least six points better. I'm proud of the way our boys played tonight. "

Ring in Valentine’s Day at Faith United Methodist Church

If you enjoy love songs and valentines, you will want to attend the annual Valentine Luncheon at Faith United Methodist Church, 5505 Broadway, Lancaster.

The event will begin with a silent auction at noon Saturday, Feb. 11, and feature a performance by the Ringmasters Hand Bell Choir after lunch.  The choir, led by Gloria Werblow, is known for its variety of techniques and includes several musicians from the Buffalo area.

Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the United Methodist Women’s local missions, which include Church Women United, Central Café, Beechwood Continuing Care and Gateway Longview.

The Valentine’s Day Luncheon is a long-standing tradition in the Lancaster community.

Lancaster Financial Advisor Sentenced For Fraud

A Statement Released by United States Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr., Western District of New York

BUFFALO, N.Y.--U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that Richard Pascucci, 31, of Lancaster, N.Y., who was convicted of wire fraud, was sentenced to a 30 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. Judge Arcara also ordered Pascucci to pay $261,000 in restitution to two victims.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul J. Campana, who handled the case, stated that in 2009, while working as a self-employed financial advisor, Pasucci stole $206,000 from an elderly woman. The defendant then stole $55,000 from a second victim in 2010. Pascucci had given investment advice to both victims before stealing their money and using it for his own living expenses. Judge Arcara ordered Pascucci to make full to the estate of his first victim, who died last spring as well as the second victim.

Scheduled to appear and sign autographs for fans on Saturday are Denver Broncos Hall of Famer Floyd Little from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Buffalo Bills greats Andre Reed and Steve Tasker from noon to 1:30 p.m., and former New York Giants superstar Rodney Hampton from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Alden Woman Charged with Embezzling $300K

A Statement Released by the Erie County Sheriff Department

Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard is announcing the arrest of a Town of Alden woman on charges of grand larceny and fraud for allegedly embezzling approximately $300,000.00 dollars over the past six years at the company she was employed by – NORAMPAC (Lancaster Division) on Walden Avenue in Lancaster.

46 year old Lynn Montgomery of Sullivan Road, Town of Alden was arrested on December 30, 2011;  she is due back in  the Village of Alden Court this evening at 6:30 PM for a felony hearing on her case.
